I have much to be thankful for. I live in a peaceful country in a sweet house with a healthy family and I love my job. I count my blessings everyday.
I like many others, hold Thanksgiving as my favorite holiday. The madness of the holidays hasn’t started yet. The holiday is not about gifts and what we receive but rather what we give. We give thanks for what we have. So instead of writing a post about some ideas for having a awesome eco-freindly Thanksgiving, I thought why not give more by compiling a list of awesome posts already written on the subject. I am thankful for great green ideas.
Huffington Post has some ideas (with great visuals) for turning your Thanksgiving a little greener this year. I am thankful that mainstream media is giving the concept of “greening” your holidays some attention.
You may or may not know that the meat industry is a huge contributor to the sad state of our environment. VegKitchen has some delicious options for a vegetarian Thanksgiving…no Tofurkey here! What, lentil and mushroom Shepard’s pie doesn’t sound divine? I am thankful for creative chefs and their tasty recipes.
The crew over at Ecouterre give thanks to all the eco-friendly discoveries they have made over the year. I am thankful for Ecouterre for providing such a wealth of green information.
Jennae over at Green Your Decor puts the whole Black Friday shopping madness into perspective. Buy what you need, green and/or local if possible, buy what is wanted and what will be used, because we all have too much crap anyway, right? While I will definitely be doing the green and local thing this year for gifts, I am thankful my year of no new purchases is over- that was harder than I thought it was going to be.
Sierra Club offers some good (and simple) tips for greening your holidays. I am thankful for good organizations like Sierra Club who, since Since 1892, “has been working to protect communities, wild places, and the planet itself.”
Here’s a little comic relief for those of you who stress about getting that turkey cooked just right, Tante Marie wants you to relax.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday filled with your favorite people, bountiful food and renewed sense of all we have to be thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving.
