Spring Greening

When spring approaches, I tend to think about freshening up for the season. There’s something invigorating about throwing off the heaviness of winter and preparing for sun-shinier days. (Especially this year after the winter we’ve had!)

Something you could do for an instant update is to change out your heavy drapery with lighter fabric such as bamboo. Adventurous? Go for a fun crab print like this one by Jenny Lee-Katz. It’s made from hemp and organic cotton and printed in the USA. $90/yard.

Brighten your furniture by switching out your cushions. This adorable seagull cushion, also by Jenny-Lee Katz, is made from hemp and organic cotton. $140.

Instead of buying new furniture why not scour your local consignment or vintage store and find an interesting piece of furniture that can be recovered — as this white chair was.

Did you know that even some of the “green” cleaning solutions on the market still contain harmful ingredients? This year, consider spring cleaning with your own homemade cleaning solutions. With helpful guides such as The Naturally Clean Home by Karyn Siegel-Maier, it will be, as they say, “super-easy.” $10.95.

Homemade not for you? Try a new line of natural cleaning products by Simply Neutral. You’ll love their “Natural Home Pack” of five products plus a pad and towel for $48.
